Description
The Real Group is a ground-breaking Swedish vocal group. Using nothing more than their voices, they have created a unique form of music, with a style that’s a mixture of jazz, pop and nordic choral music. The group, which was founded in 1984, has travelled all over the world. Their perfection and personal touch, combined with the originality of their songs, has made them firm favourites, not least among the most critical listeners. The breadth of their repertoire and their outstanding musical quality has stood them in good stead for performances with symphony orchestras, jazz groups, pop bands and well-known artists such as Barbara Hendricks, Toots Thielemans and Sir George Martin. This is their first album with a big band.
“When we met these young, talented musicians in April 2017, it quickly became clear that we all share a great love of big-band music. Their inquisitiveness and creativity inspired us during those sunny days in Schlitz. Not only that — we had scores that had been specially written by several of the top arrangers of our time. All this underlined our musical freindship.”
This CD is the continuation of a very fruitful collaboration that began during an intensive workshop session in the Hessen State Music Academy in 2017.
